Other greats include the QTV ‘Danster’ campaign, Heinz ‘Two Minutes’, Lynx ‘Shaver‘, Monster.co.uk ‘Voices’, Stella ‘Hero’s Return’, Audi ‘Wakeboarder’, Skoda ‘Factory’, Weetabix ‘Black Beauty’, Aristoc ‘Subtitles’, Metz ‘Judderman’, VW ‘Smile‘ and Reebok ‘Belly’.
I think that 2000 was the greatest ever year for British TV advertising. Several of the ‘greats’ could also be classics, depending on your opinion, but there’s 18 ads up there and they’re all exceptionally good.
Try watching the Barclays ad without the words “irony!” or “hubris!” wriggling out your mouth.
Stella “Hero’s Return” is probably my favourite ad of all time. I hate everyone involved with a fucking passion.
1998 was better year.
Everyone’s homework is to watch The Apprentice tonight – this week it’s the advertising challenge – and then slag it all off in tomorrow’s comments section. I’m willing to bet it’s the agency people charged with judging the candidates’ ideas that get the most sh*t on this forum…
Wow- that Barclays ad is astonishingly arrogant. Nobody would want to call themselves “a big bank” now!
I hated that barclays ad. Still do. Everything about it,
And I’m not a bank-hater.
