People still want to get into this business?
The letter from McCabe isn’t what I would’ve expected.
Some of the letters are quite charming. Must’ve had more time on their hands then (hang the fuck on, I am writing a post right at this very fucking moment). A team that I know very well (I married one of them – the girl, not the bloke) had won many awards and were approached by a top and, at the time, seemingly cool agency boss. ‘Do you want to see our book?’ they asked. ‘No’, he replied, ‘I want to see what you do outside of advertising. I want to see the websites you build. And can you code? And paint in goauche? I know you can write ads but that’s not what I am interested in’.
The team stayed where they were and their career went skywards. Guess what happened to his career. (And no, he didn’t start up a crowd-sourcing, social storytelling specialist shop in Dalston.)
Is this relevant? Maybe not.
Adam, please give us a clue as to who that utter wanker was…
