Sorry for the late arrival but I couldn't quite put my finger on it before. Does anyone think Old Spice is, by laughing at itself, hurting its brand?
Would Old Spice be better served by leveraging its legacy to gain respect?
Maybe for inspiration, the brand could look to the exploding popularity of the "Damn Right Your Dad Drank It" campaign for Canadian Club.
Btw anyone who needs a beverage this weekend, don your glad rags, splash it all over and then get someone to grape you in the mouth.

John – no way. Old Spice was a dead brand. I haven't seen it on the shelves, or even heard of it for about 10 years. This has completely put it back on the map, so I don't think it's hurting the brand. The brand had terminal cancer until this campaign came out.
George – Short term gain, long term pain?
I'm not decrying that they did something just that it wasn't the right thing. I guess only time will tell.
Is the Old Spice guy flogging a dead horse? My hunch is that Ofd Spice is back, baby! YEAAH!
