Coincidences aside, shall we have a sweepstake on when Stella with make another ad that is anywhere near as good as the work they produced at Lowe?
I’ll guess February 2014.
Stella changed some of the strongest lines ever written (reassuringly expensive), and inevitably they are being marked against previous work, hence the perceived fail. For what it’s worth, I think Stella is good – a bit daft, good fun, and a nicely told story.
When an account changes agency, the agency (quite rightly) wants to put their stamp on it, and own the new campaign, not regurgitate the stuff that went before. Mother haven’t quite found their feet yet, but I think it’s coming.
My bet is the second half of 2011.
Can we also have a sweepstake on when we’ll see another John Lewis Christmas that is anywhere near as good as the work produced by Lowe?
Um… I think we already have.
Or just when Mother are going to do something good?
kind of like the stella ice ad…and i usually hate the french themed stuff. In general though the days of big stella ads from lowe are gone and never coming back…for all the reasons you often blog about ben….and we can all safely assume research and client processes are largely at fault.
