Yeah…I mean, yeah. S’alright. If you can read the tiny copy. I mean…yeah…
Verrry nice.
Very Don Draper
huzzah!
Imagine people being allowed to smile or laugh in BBH. Ha ha ha ha. Ironically it makes me laugh just thinking about it.
BBH is about as fun as the bunker was when the first Russian shells fell on the Reich Chancellery. Less fun actually because at least we were able to get pissed.
No, I’m afraid this won’t work. People won’t like people having fun. It demeans their careers and in some cases their lives.
For their fragile self esteem to remain intact and to give their lives meaning, people who work in advertising have to fool themselves into thinking that it’s somehow important. That there’s a science to it that only intelligent people can do.
If they actually admitted to themselves that it’s simply a load of people using nothing more complicated than common sense to guess at what might work and then being ignored and told what to do by the client, it would mean their lives were…gulp…a waste.
No.
This cannot happen.
So we make it complicated and we must TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. We examine every molecule of strategy, of creative, of communication to make sure that it is “right.” Conveniently forgetting that all that hard work is dismissed in an instant when the general public isn’t interested in the strategy, doesn’t look at the ad and isn’t interested enough in your product to click on your Facebook/Twitter page or blog about it.
So say “leverage” (ideally in an American accent) a lot and protect your ego.
Now I must go. The Fuhrur says Steiner is going to break through and relieve Berlin. I must prepare.
Dear Traudle, I think you mean Stainer not Steiner. And he ain’t going to relieve you…
Gleaned some of the copy already.
Is BBH really bad then Traudle? Didn’t know that. Where else is really shit to work at. Not rubbish. I can work that out for myself. Where’s just depressing, grim and humourless? These places should be named and shamed!
im so happy happy happy happy ha ha ha ha ha. woo hoo. funny fun fun fun. its so good to be alive!!!! <3 <3 <3

I’ve freelanced oodles of places.
Saatchi’s really is bollocks.
As in bad bollocks not dogs.
Just to give a balanced view, I’ve spent several months at Saatchis this year and enjoyed it immensely. I liked the people, the place and the pub.

I agree Ben, Saatchis is good. It’s a laugh and they actually listen to the ECDs’ opinions, unlike most agencies who only seem to listen to the planner/’engagement’ bullshit artist. Fallon was hilariously miserable, sort of like Zimbabwe. Traudle summed up BBH beautifully. Grey was surprisingly good fun. W&K too. Chaotic, but cool. Mother was just a tad scary. I used to think the shitter the work, the more fun the agency, but now I spend my time thinking about cake. And breasts.
Do a post on this please Ben. Go on. I’d like it. VCCP is a nice place to work. The work is meh but no one is a cunt (unless the cunt is me).
Publicis couldn’t give a fuck about you – inedible bacon sandwiches on a monday morning was a perk. No, THE perk.
this cheered me up.
it pays to have a laugh and not to take yourself too seriously.
all the good ads are made by people who have fun.
all the shite ads are made by angry, paranoid fuck wits who think they are too clever to work in advertising.
Linus Karlsson is no doubt getting paid a shit load of money to join mccann. he’s made a career out of having a laugh. just look at his reel…
Aw, they’ve even got the DDB Avis layout. From when it was, y’know, fun.
Hang on, Saatchi’s is great.
If you take a stroll down to the very end of floor two you’ll find that bonkers creative bird who named herself twice. Classic. What a great find.
