yeah, neat. now who was that ted speaker again who did that kind of stats presentation regarding countries’ health and wealth some months ago? his outlook and presentation were less positive, yet more realistic, if i am not mistaken.
either way, what goes up, must come down. growth has its limits. in nature, and especially in a real world full of scarcity. just saying. happy christmas! π
Very little going on? We’re about to celebrate the birth of none other than the baby Jesus. I don’t know about you but I reckon it’s almost a commandment to wet the baby’s head.
Pessimistic or as they like to call it realistic predictors of the future, especially in relationship to resources, their prices and the gap between nations on most measures have constantly been way behind what actually happened.

A good example is Malthus and in modern times The Limits to Growth modellers of The Club of Rome (early 70’s). They would have us dead by now, out of food, over populated and choking on pollution.

These doomsters are back in vogue and are unlikely over time to be correct again IMO.

Great to see someone with belief in humanity and progress.
“im a happy consumer. you do realize by the year 2000 all of the malls in the world are gonna be connected. theres gonna be a subculture of mall people …”
anyway, i have no idea whether pessimistic or realistic predictors of the future have been way behind what actually happened. and i dont really care. whether they might be malthus, the club of rome or the ipcc. what i do know is that the vast and poor majority on this planet are dead by now, those who are alive are out of food, ill, their countries are over-populated and they are choking on pollution and dieing of toxins, and many are suffering from war or are on the brink of it. i blame a great deal of that on the material growth of the rich parts of the world. no, actually all of it. and since this world is one big fucking system made up of uncountable sub-systems that are interdependent, it is hard to predict anything in a linear measure as would be a time scale made an arrow pointing towards the future. but since they are all interdependent, it is pretty fucking clear that if one element or whatsitcalledyounameit is going to be missing, polluted and/or too expensive to afford, were in big fucking trouble – like those poor fuckers who live outside the bubble.
i dont believe anything but my own judgement and couldnt care less whats in vogue. and as im not a cock, im not going to talk about philosophical bullshit like the metaphysics of the present; r&d investments and belief in humanity.
i do know that tv is the opium for the masses. and infotainment is information presented to entertain. im a happy consumer.
predictions, predictions, jim. this deserves an ambiguous answer π will it get worse? question is what for who. and as always, the ones who could bring ease to most of the issues of the times are too busy patting themselves on the back celebrating their deluded fucked up lives, searching for more more more here or there, ingoring and forgetting about the importance and implications of the how while blaming the misery of the unlucky on their alleged weaknesses instead of misfortune and the mighty’s cruelty and lack of brains, soul and balls. this would get them to hell, if only there were such a thing. tho i got the impression more than enough are already living in hell, one way or another, aware of it or not. its the human condition. im a happy consumer.

I’d love to see one of those for the arsenal team.
“look what happened in the early 90’s. many young boys were given roles to play”.
Neil: I don’t understand.
There were very few young boys given roles to play at Arsenal in the early 1990s.
Something for you to do, if there’s nothing going on in Adland.
