compassionate and generous men nurture victims. wow way da go for the worst attempt at a profound quote. to me this fella Julian is riding his hero wave a bit smugly. i mean isn’t he essentially a dictator for leaks now? why should we trust him with our classified documents? i’m sure he’ll come crashing down like Harvey Two Face, only Batman won’t be there to save us. the russians will have launched nukes, and i’ll be picking my skin off of my laptop.

it’s totally idiotic to link the “rape” incident (btw, in Sweden f**king without condom equals rape, so some of you here are “raping” your wife twice a year, others like me do it every day) with Leaks. these are two completely different things.
even if he robed bank, ate shit, was found involved in sodomistic sex orgies with newborn babies it wouldn’t change the content of Leaks.

I think it’s because Tyson had an obvious history of violence and several other allegations raised before the conviction. This would have pointed us in the direction of the ultimate verdict.
Julian appears to have put himself in the line of danger and hatred in order to expose lies and corruption. I think this suggests (however true it may be) a degree of morality that would be at odds with committing a crime of that nature.

If you think this guy raped anyone you haven’t even bothered to check the story. No way he is guilty.
Brit-abroad – have you been reading what actually went on? Even the women themselves were surprised, when they went to the police, that what had happened constituted a criminal offence.
You don’t have to link the two things, but it’s possible to hold an opinion both about Swedish sex laws (bizarre and draconian) and Assange (ethically minded on the big issues, and yet unable to keep the old sausage in the pants on a day to day basis) that make the whole issue rather fraught and complex.
What he’d done would not constitute rape in this country, for instance.
But then the Swedes prosecute punters not prostitutes, which is why Stockholm has no red-light district.
what side should i take? that was perfectly clear for me, at the latest after i had watched that disgusting collateral murder video. of course wikileaks.
what annoys me is that its convenient to confuse assange with wikileaks as he had been the face of wikileaks in the media. his failure. hes the god jobs of transparency.
as for the sex charges. not all the details were made public. in fact, its all speculation. what i heard was that he refused to use a condom. how the fuck can this be proven in courts? ‘should we use a condom?’ ‘im taking birth control and had a test four weeks ago. what about you?’ ‘okay, i had a test several months ago and didnt fuck because, actually, i think im gay, but didnt have my outing yet. what am i doing here? ahh, im drunk and i hate condoms’… sure, it could have been different from that. it could have been any scenario. who the fuck knows. i say innocent until proven guilty.
my personal evaluation is that assange is a guy who seems to have high moral and ethical standards indeed. i think ive seen his step dad in an interview saying that assange always defended the weak at school… that he would rape women is contradictory to that image (and the whole wikileaks-transparency-fighting-for-the-right-things stuff), from my point of view. on the other hand, every person is able to do terrible things i guess. so who knows. but the timing for this whole incident is very strange. what is perfectly clear is that he is an enemy to many governments, especially the u.s.
if this is all a governmental conspiracy wtf, they are very stupid (i think they are totally dumb anyway) to think a smear campaign would damage wikileaks and the issues. there will always be people like assange.
Well what Tyson had achieved before the rape conviction (not that that it was an ‘achievement’ as such) was mostly biting peoples’ faces and battering seven shades of shit out of them; whereas what Assange has achieved is opening up the world’s media to proof of human rights abuses, illegal spying by governments, the truth behind how oil companies operate by distorting the political systems of impoverished countries and a ton of other stuff we suspected but until now had no actual proof of (and that’s the revelatory, fascinating bit in the whole Wikikleaks saga).
Also, as for the best Christmas lights, i reckon these are a contender. I don’t work for or even anywhere near Y&R but this is really good and worth a posting Ben. Ages since I’ve seen something so simple and compelling. Nice copy at the end too.
