I *heart* hipstamatic

I am one of the world’s premier shit photographers. I have been to some of the most incredible places on earth and captured them in a way that would make Stevie Wonder recoil. I have no eye and I compose with absolutely no skill at all.
Except when I use the Hipstamatic app:
I’m not saying those shots are great, but they’re way above my usual standard.
Thanks, Hipstamatic.
cool pics Ben – I’m addicted to my hipstamatic app too – although I did read an interesting article about the rise of the retro camera app here
“The faux-vintage photo is merely an illustrative example of a larger trend whereby social media increasingly force us to view our present as always a potential documented past.”
Great article. Thanks.
One word: instagram.
Style of substance Ben. Style of substance.
In the days of film (remember them?) Joe’s Basement in Wardour Street (remember them?) used to have a machine that developed your prints with a cool frame around the edge. My photos were universally rubbish – but that with that frame they looked special…
When they shut the shop they probably put the machine in the skip. What a waste.
Hipstamatic is indeed brilliant.
Also worth a try is SwankoLab. You take your photagraphs normally on the iPhone camera but then process them in the SwankoLab. Hours of fun.
Instagram is indeed better (it’s quicker for starters). These pictures are great though.
Why, thank you.
1 and 3 were taken through a dirty minibus window. 4 was (obviously) taken through a plane window.
Hipstamatic hides all that shit, too.
And I forgot to say, the subject matter and colour palette of Lagos really seem to play to Hipstamatic’s strengths.
New age fun with a vintage feel.
