I’m about 30 years too old for this
The bears are kind of fun, but the old Heineken Refreshes The Parts… idea is somewhat tenuous to say the least.
And what kind of parent lets their kid eat a bowl of cereal in her room? It’s obviously up some stairs so she’s bound to spill something on the way. And then she’s got to bring the stuff back down, and the crumbs…

As a YouTube commenter says: weetabix filling cereal with crack cocaine since 2011.
UPDATE: my five-year-old said, ‘Cool, dancing bears’, but declined the opportunity to watch it a second time. My nearly-two-year-old said, ‘Again!’, but to be honest she says that about anything, even Hitler documentaries on the History Channel.
Ignoring the whole Heineken side it’s a beautifully crafted film. Right down to the CGI, which is shit in most ads.
The teddy falling into shot at the end is nice to.
Director?
Sorry meant ‘too’.
And who gives a shit if she’s eating upstairs. There’s bloody teddy bears dancing
59 seconds too long, should have just been a pack shot.
utter garbage.
i do like it too. but why are the other kids there. and why do they have to watch the princess eat and perform. is this the envy mommy-i-want-weetabix-too bit. id much prefer the mother to come in or telling her through the door to be quiet or something. and whos got so many look alike teddy bears. cgi, right.
i do like it though. i need to get me some weetabix. great filling, obviously.
But what self-respecting kid would have 8 (or is it 9) of the same type of Teddy?
It’works’ in the same way this ‘works’ :

theres a making of http://youtu.be/_2sY_tVqq8o
Annoying gawping kids at the end. Such a shit comedy cliche. At least they didn’t do a post pack shot of the girl innocently going “What?”.
This is the ad you write when they’ve rejected all your other good ideas. “Protagonist uses product. Protagonist starts dancing.”
Not great. Decent budget has kept it from being diabolical.
So, that’s fucking awesome.
60 seconds of utter shite.
Jesus, lighten up peeps- its a decent ad for kids cereal, so should be applauded. Will probably only run as a 30″ anyway.
shouldn’t we be applauding the team for getting this out?
it’s for a kids cereal and there’s not even a glimpse patronising/storyteller voice over.
we keep banging on about how advertising has lost its mojo.
maybe its because there are a load of placement teams (oh, sorry, they call themselves freelance now) going on blogs and shitting on the parades of anyone who tries to do something good?
it’s not going to win gold.
but it’s good.
well done whoever did it. ignore these mardy arse muppets. as my dad would say.

Don’t you just love advertising?
Worryingly, I really like the bears. The girl I hate. And her friends. She reminds me of Lena Zavaroni, in that punchably precocious way. I’d probably hate her slightly MILF-y mum if she was in it. It’s a bit un-fun somehow. Like a Cadbury script from the ‘B/C’ pile. The bears though… terrific.
Someone mentioned a making of film. Why? Who on earth would watch it other than some ‘oooh, look at those lovely bears’ perv.
‘Like a Cadbury script from the B/C pile’.
Never has a truer phrase been spoken.
I prefer the Rice Krispies ‘its gonna taste great’ kid.
But seriously its waaay better than most cereal ads for kids.
Mary – why the other kids are watching? I’m sure the client wanted something very x-factor specific (it aired first during saturdays show) because ‘our research shows kids watch xfactor) and so they had to put three kid ‘judges’ in there.
It’s good.
adam, the director is usually in there. someone asked whod done it.
but interesting to know why you would watch it if you would, which you wont, because you are not into the bears. perv.
there are also self-help how to do the moves vids. good idea. shitty vids. looks ad-hoc on set or avid left overs.
point is, weetabix chocolate is probably as unhealthy as giving your kid a gallon of coke for breakfast. apart from that, kids need to move, do sports, dance, doesnt matter. i do appreciate the spot for showing some active kid and trying to get others to do it. not so sure the client/agency thought of this. especially if i see the other kids sitting there. and the directors… anyway. kids perceive ads differently.
richard, thanks for the context. that makes sense. well, not really, but now i know why.
I want to hate it, but I sort of cant help liking it. Sorry guys.
The girl looks faintly evil, like she may have been confined to her room for ‘accidentally’ killing her mother. Excellent CGI. I hope it sells more cereal.
I only like the funny stamping move she busts at the start. I’m gonna do it.
I bet the other girls are there to make her look like she isn’t a loser/loner. The fact that she has a troupe (a teddy?) of dancing bears is clearly not enough. Still, she is going to have to throw some big ‘ole shapes to shift the calorific content of a bowl of those babies.
The bear with the black, drawstring belt is kind of hot somehow.
Not as good as ‘The animals of farthing wood’.
Or ‘Cracker’.
Or ‘Woof!’.
Though.
Is it?
Ben, the Dude was talking about Dub vacuuming, posted by ‘So’.
your really rude adam i have personally met lena zavaroni i can assure you she was a very shy young lady she was never over the top and when she had six week run in hastings she boosted the towns entertainment. lena was lovely women and had a lot of heartache and personal problems but she always had an amazing smile even towards the end of her sudden passing.
dont talk about people you dont know.
