Oh dear. They’re starting to reach the stage in the campaign where it sounds like they’ve been written by the placement team.

And ‘I’m not a well-decorated sea captain who battles large monsters on a nautical vessel, but thanks to Old Spice I smell like I am.’ ?
Why would you want to smell like that?
(Thanks, G.)
seeing him with that thing on his shoulder, i totally got a fishy smell in my nose. um, no more old spice for you, darling.
I like it. It’s still better than any British ‘comedy’ advertising.
And another humdinger of a line.
‘My Family’ is better than any British ‘comedy’ advertising at the moment.
they’re experiencing the lynx/axe problem. their premise is childish. chicks will dig you is a puerile strategy that is, fortunately, aimed at pueri in this case.
Proof that the original old spice stuff was more of a great comedy sketch than a great idea/insight (see also Cadbury Gorilla).
Like all sketch shows, after a while they just seem tired and lame when repeating the same trick. What’s considered the best advertising nowadays just seems like smoke and mirrors to me.
it’s good.
get back into bed and get out the other side.
wink.
Writers who can have ideas are funny.
Ideas people who can’t write are not.
The industry hires the wrong creatives.
I’m glad they’ve included a woman. To my mind, the original ad was all the weaker for not explicitly showing how Old Spice would cause a woman to swoon. *sarcasm emoticon*
What’s the deal with the sound mix?
