Big ads R Back!
Posted in Uncategorized
The economy is screwed, we’re about to enter another recession and people are shooting each other in the streets for the chance to lick a rotten slice of Kingsmill.
But, like the honeybadger, Adland don’t give a fuck:

(Fallon, Tom Kuntz etc. Interest declared: made by mates etc.)
(Tom Kuntz again. No idea about anything else. Can’t be arsed to find out.)

(Also made by mates. Traktor (not actually mates), Saatchis London (several friends there) etc.)
You missed ‘and shitter than ever’
That’s funny because the Traktor boys told me they thought you were a right bell.
Where did the post on that wank star wars super bowl ad go?
It’s got 2 million views and 9000 likes now.
This planet is fucked.

Oh, I should probably correct that: I don’t know Traktor. Sorry for the confusion.
And it’s fine for them to think I’m a bell. That’s what Fridays are for.
The ASA will be all over that Lynx ad, Bloody dangerous I tell you. And high claims too.
I won’t remember these ads by tomorrow.
I won’t remember those ads tomorrow because I am quite drunk. I do rather like the Cadbury’s one because it reminds me of a campaign we wrote Ben. For a chocolate product too. In fact it’s almost identical. The difference is that Fallon actually had staff who could sell it to a client who actually liked ads in the first place. Ours was quite dark though if I remember rightly. Happy weekend as they say somewhere I don’t want to go to.
Well, ours was written a year ago and due to run this coming August, so you never know (of course it’s dead in a toilet).
They didn’t use Rock Me Amadeus, though.
I thought the Cadbury’s ad was quite refreshing and fun. As an ad for chocolates should be. Hurrah to all involved. Two thumbs up.
Bubbly my arse.
Big ads but small ideas
Of the 3 I think T mobile is best. Not saying much though is it.
Really like the Cadbury ad. Its just fun and doesn’t take itseld seriously. Great they’ve moved on from the shadow of Gorilla and started a new strategy…
Lynx is ok but just another Lynx ad…
And for me TMobile is fine but very familiar thought… reminds me of the amazing VB aussie ad but not as good.
Still, great to see some big bold ads to kick of 2012.
Like em all. Good work. Anyone that says otherwise on needs to cheer the fuck up.
Do nobody else see similarities between Tango St. George and T-Mobile?
I think it’s an excellent ad for a number of reasons:
– Saying ‘shit’ in an ad and getting away with it.
– Use of Bonkers (on loads of scripts that I’ve seen, but never the budget to actually get it).
– Harry Hill’s voiceover.
– Use of Fenton.
– Direction and overall craft – art direction is particularly sublime.
– Use of research – if you are going to use information provided by your customers, this is how to do it.
– Budget!
At first I thought ‘oh wow – a T mobile ad where they haven’t nicked the idea off the internet’ – then I remembered VB ‘the regulars’ – oh well, old habits die hard and all that…
There have been far too many of all of these ads.
VB was hardly new, Just very well written and produced.
T-Mobile needs to bloody start again if you ask me.
Axe used to be so good. Surely this is average. It’s been done oh so many times before.
Have we reaLLY FORGOTTEN?
AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
All three make me sad about my chosen profession.
Dull. As. Fuck.
If only we had more of Chrysler and Clint’s attitude http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEM9dodyABo or Honda’s (UK) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhcpsWBZWNU we’d be working our way out of the recession in no time
Three not very good ads.
The lynx ad is a bit of a Kronenbourg meet Stunt city mash up. And the T-mobile ad is a Blackcurrant Tango meets that beer ad with Sheila’s called Sheila in. The Cadbury ad is original at least. But it’s still not very good in my opinion.
A.
Oh yes…
