The beauty of the fairytale apocalypse (thanks, P).
the video about photojournalism is quite good. but then it is not. i cant help seeing a young guy taking the exploitation he addresses to a meta level.
with his work, he makes it appear as if everything, or much, is staged, at least in the west bank. fact is that people get shot in the west bank every now and then, minors get arrested, women have to give birth to their babies waiting at a check point, [insert more shit here]. so that is normality for them. as are the usually peaceful protests in various villages every friday. its not a nice place to live.
the protesters were there before the journalists came along, or this guy in particular.
of course, it is true that if a camera is there, people are aware of it and it does have an influence. what and how much has been the sujet of research and debates before this guy thought it would be cool to make a little film about it.
im a bit annoyed by this guy, i must admit.
