It’s just unfortunate what happened to the dog, a theory compounded by this REAL version of the ad:

Just in case the people who worked on the ad have been checking back on this blog periodically for any actual feedback from the mob on their ad… I think it is really, really well done. Very sweet twist. Didn’t see it coming. It had just the right amount of sentimentality. It’s nice to see an ad that isn’t jaded every now and then.
Now I hope I don’t see an old ad out of Italy that is identical to this one.

love to have been there when the chirpy producer told the creative team that getting the Smiths song was looking a bit iffy but Walking on Sunshine acoustic version by Peter Bjorn and John was definitely an option!
I like the ad, I like the song and I like the growing trend of doing covers of good tunes from our youth that are apt for your ad.
But I’m not sure this song choice isn’t too much of a cheat for their rug-pull.
They want us to think for 90% of the ad that the kid can’t wait to GET a present…and then reveal that actually he can’t wait to GIVE one.
So they cleverly film everything so it
plays both ways – as they should for a rug pull…
…except the song is all about him wanting to GET what he wants. So I felt a bit cheated when they then revealed that actually he wanted to GIVE something.
(And don’t gimme no crap about “he wanted to get the chance to give his parents a present.” Cos that’s bullshit.)
A song that referenced his general impatience or excited anticipation would have worked better methinks.
