Very good new land rover ad
Posted in Uncategorized
It’s one of those ones where the script is beautifully simple and the direction so good that you can just sit back and enjoy it.
Creatives: Martin and Martin (interest declared: friends).
Director: Vince Squibb (interest declared: I don’t know him that well, but we’ve met a few times and I found him to be a throughly nice bloke).
Good to see Gerard Houllier working again after leaving Villa.
So he can afford a top of the range Disco but he’s too tight to buy a fucking washing machine. Twot.
why is the car so clean at the end?
clients…
@ Anon2: perhaps he needs specialist cleaning facilities.
I think Land Rovers are machine washable George
You hyped it up too much. I was disappointed.
You should say every ad is crap when you post it so I can enjoy it.
It’s nice, that. Kind of agree with imposter george, but really I’m splitting hairs. It’s really good.
Is it true if we promote a brand on the back of a perception?
Surely the reality is 4×4’s hardly ever go off road let alone on an adventure.
Not questioning the tactics just the strategy.
The idea is good but there are some small “client’s touches” that make the whole thing wicker.
And yeah, at least in my country people with brand new luxury SUVs don’t do their own laundry or at least have money for a Miele or something…
“To the pub, after I saw this depressing POS.” would be my answer to that question at the end.
this is “very good”?
for a Land Rover?
sorry, no.
it’s badly directed, too.
and music is waaaay off.
Our Guide in Africa last year described how they have to keep Toyotas on set to pull those Range Rovers out of streams and mud.
Defenders are different. But the wanky Range Rovers everyone in London has can’t get through a puddle.
Don’t like the idea much but the Direction is lovely. Top casting of the launderette guy. Like a charming old toy shop owner.
i’m with Alvanta.
vince squibb is over rated.
and this does not make me want to buy a landrover IN THE SLIGHTEST.
time to move their strategy on.
and it’s all really old-fashioned.
good ol reveal ad. make it fucking good then.
make me want to see the reveal again in the same way i want to hear someone tell someone a joke i already know – so i can enjoy it on a whole different level.
i bet this got one laugh at the agency showing, from the finance girl who laughs at fucking everything and is a moron. infact she probably laughed at something that wasn’t meant to be funny, like the girl at the sowing machine.
This is what happens when planners get their scripts through.
Vince Squibb over rated? Ha ha, you should write comedy “Fat Albert”
Very nicely done. I don’t like the music though
I think this advert is very telling of people who drive massive gas guzzling vehicles: rude, who never say thanks!
my husband lost a £5 bet that the laundry guy was rab c nesbit after he lost weight, or even our dearly departed friend Mr M, so releived it was gerard houllier, lol
ditto great casting of staff 🙂
Rude pair of twats. The owner should tell them where to go
This was filmed at Derose Dry Cleaners in Paddington last December as I was walking past on my lunch hour and had to wait for them to finish filming a take before we could get past.
