Livestrong, in the same way that Pete Doherty might.

Here’s an interesting Nike spot from back in the day that addresses all those ridiculous rumours about Lance Armstrong’s drug taking (thanks, G).
What I find fascinating is Lance’s amazing ability to lie for all that time.
Did he think he’d never get caught?
And does that come from arrogance or stupidity?
I guess that’s what happens when you ‘pedal’ drugs (geddit!!11!?????).
I was thinking about this earlier. Followed the story for a few years due to some dogged journalism from Paul Kimmage.
The question has to be that if one of the most driven sportsmen in the world fought cancer and came back to win the Tour de France, why would he not fight these allegations?
I just don’t believe a man with his resources and determination would say to USADA ‘let’s just leave it there’ and not contest the charges. Unless, he was guilty as sin and the lie has been snowballing since 1992. Some 20 years now.
You know what?
One of the harshest truths in life is this: you can’t succeed in any truly competitive area without being a bit of a bastard.
And I’d include advertising in that.
Ruthlessness aint pretty. But neither is failure. Or mediocrity.
Is Lionel Messi an arsehole? I had no idea.
I tell you who is an arsehole: the newsagent round the corner from where I work. 70p for a packet of Tooty Frootys?
Arsehole.
Being ruthless isn’t the same as being a cheat Butterbean.
I liked your joke about pedalling, Ben.
You can’t succeed without being a bit of a bastard is one of the biggest myths there is.
I am not sure now what to do with my Livestrong wrist band or my Jim’ll fix it badge.
Once of Lances fav sayings was pain is temporary, but winning lasts forever. I think this pain will hang around him for the rest of his life. Does the ends justify the means? Nike thinks so.
The clip Blah refers to is here Armstrong v Kimmage –

BTW when Armstrong says the word chair I think he means facebook.
I think when someone has cancer and is faced with the possibility of not living out their natural lifespan, they just don’t give a damn about the consequences. I’ve been watching too much Breaking Bad, but damn that show is good.
Blah… cheating is a symptom of ruthlessness.
Ben… maybe…

70p for a packet of Tooty Frooties! Ffs, what is the world coming to?!
we all have to pedal somethin’, in fact, we’re probably the worst pedallers of all. here’s a great doc about how ads ruin our lives http://www.channel4.com/programmes/philosophy-a-guide-to-happiness/4od#2921724
Do you think it has something to do with the name Armstrong?
You know, like, how Neil Armstrong never walked on the moon but has been lying about that ever since?
@Butterbean You’re a junior suit aren’t you?
@Anonymouse If only that were true.
@expat If only that were true.
