When Did You Last See A Good KFC AD?

Here’s a new one that smoulders like a Zinger Tower Burger:

Really well shot (interest declared: by my friend Jeff Labbé) – to a level that a fast food ad really doesn’t usually enjoy.
I did wonder if the product moment would work, but it’s pretty good. Great American Bites? Rodeos. Fine by me.
And let’s face it: it’s several thousand times more memorable than whatever they’ve been doing for the last ten years (none of which I recall).
Sorry, Ben. But this is utter tripe.
I know whenever friends are involved it’s hard to say “what a load of bollocks”, but sometimes you just have to say “what a load of bollocks”.
If I don’t like my friends’ stuff I don’t put it up.
Or I put it up but I say something non-committal about it.
Sure. It’s nicely shot. (Not that difficult given the subject matter.) But it face plants in the dust when the product comes in.
The “Chairs” ad they did a year or so ago was much better than this.
Doesn’t really say anything true about KFC. It could be for a Burger King / McDs etc. by swapping out the money shot.
Better shot than the usual shite though.
You should put up the 20″ cut that’ll actually run…
This is a bit shite. Its just a polished turd. You’ve gone all LA LA and soft Benjamin.
Gash. Utter gash. Addy addy gash.
This is still the best KFC spot of all time…

I showed this to a friend and asked him to guess the brand…
“Budweiser? Levi’s? Diesel? Nike?”
What my old CD used to call ‘Sponsored entertainment’.
Still, at least it looks nice.
MURICA!
Sorry. No emotion. No connection. Never gets in there. No real connection between real rodeo riders. Opportunity missed.
KFC
100% American.
0% horse.
“I ate the bones”
I miss those old wrangler ads.
Looks really good, nothing wrong with a sun bathed “days of thunder” feel to your piece. If I was your friend I’d edit the pack-shot out and get more footage that wasn’t used in the ad. It’d look good on any DOPs reel.
As an ad for KFC… no man, not for me.
These ‘bites’ come in three flavours; Texas BBQ, Sweet Misrouri Mustard and Kansas Chilli. I bought a bucket each of the first two flavours because I don’t like spicy food, but they’re all fucking hot – even the damn BBQ!
