Note to Abramovich, Glazers et al. You never actually own a football club. You look after it for the next generation.
I read too much PG Wodehouse as a young man and now I can’t stop writing like he does but manty times worse.
Which, though not entirely infuriating, is far from furiating.
I never really liked that patek philharmonica line. Then again I don’t plan on having offspring, ever.
I love how he dropped that line in there with such beaming pride.
I bet he says it to all the girls at parties.
“Do you know who I am?”
“Yes you do. You just don’t know it yet.”
“How do you mean?”
“I’m kind of a big deal”
“Go on …”
“You know that Patek Phillipe headline …”
“Yes you do”
“I really don’t”
“Ahem … You never actually own a Patek Phillipe, you merely look after it for the next generation?”
“Is it on the back of a magazine or something?”
“Aha! See, you do know it. I wrote that. And in only eight days. Hark at the emotional resonance.”
“I’ve got to go and merely speak to someone over there for a minute.”
Nice article, though.
The odd thing is…he didn’t write that line.
Easy – just shoot somebody in your last act.
