New Skoda Ad:

I think they’ve gone all out to execute this idea properly, but how much meaner is the stuff?
Then again, how lovely was the Cake stuff?
Fuck knows, but they both beat most other ads into a cocked hat full of Idi Amin’s tears, Hitler’s piss and Ian Huntley’s spit (that scene is in the two minute version).
That’s great. Most car ads just pass me by these days.

Triumph motorbikes took another route a few year back, it is a viral film, I reckon it would edit down nicely, what say you? Triumph have been trying to increase sales in the US.

My Dad owned a Triumph, why he feels the need to tell me everytime he see’s a motorbike though is beyond me. “Really Dad, tell me more….”
who directed this one?
Good stuff. For what it’s worth, I think it actually works better than the first one. Hats off.
Wicked.

I preferred the Triumph thing.
It’s not scary enough.

99 problems and the bitch ain’t one.
Doesn’t do it for me…in fact I find it slightly naff.
The direction for me is very ‘middle of the road’ and Mr Denton is quite right, the idea needed the direction and production to be darker, more twisted, sinister.
If Tom and Walt had done this it would have scared the bejesus out of you.
What they need up at Fallon is a bloody good creative director, someone to give the place some quality control back.
Feels like a ship without a rudder at the moment.
Good, but more scare and less vulture – that bit looked lame. It should have been on industrial scale too – loads of bikes burning out on bonnets etc
Its not scary at all, its more sci fi than scary…
Looks like the idea got weaker by lack of balls at some point and i don’t think its that well directed, looks a bit shit.
I think Palmer might have done a better job.
At least its better than T Mobile, yawn.
Im looking forward to Flintham starting his new place so London starts making some decent ads again…
Its all very well everyone going ‘Yeah it should have been scarier’…but have you all forgotten about THE FUCKING BACC you dumb ignorant cunts. I think its great. In a landscape of shit UK adverts and even shitter car ads, its great to see work that actually entertains.
Ok, so for me this ads better than pretty much every other car ad out there. Yet it still leaves me feeling a bit cold. Probably cos it’s a Skoda ad and Skoda ads are generally pretty great.
But this one, not so great.
The other problem I have is the car itself. Stuff it full of cobra venom, paint it some wacky toxic green colour – hell, get the entire line up of Slipknott to jizz in the window wash – but it still looks like a car my dad would drive
Mark: The fact it is a car that your Dad would drive is what makes it cool. If it was for a super bad car it would make the ad naff.
I for one think this ad is genius. Funny that all the comments on Campaign and Creative Review fucking love it. As ever the disgruntled failed frustrated creatives have a pop at it on this blog (as expected).
i love it.
cool.
brand personality in buckets.
it’s alright. in fact, i genuinely quite like it.
criticism would be: could have been a bit darker.
but it’s better than most of what’s there right now.
everyone on this blog must be making pencil winning every day, judging by the level of criticism everything gets. or are we all just bitter ‘cos we’re all making shitfests?
the people who have been commenting on Campaign work at fallon, its boring but they only seem to like stuff form that agency, joe bloggs i know who you are…
Anon @ 10:43………I think you should have been in it. You sound a bit scary.
Perhaps it could have been darker, but car manufacturers are probably fairly jittery about suggesting their cars are actively evil, after Ford’s experience with its cat-killing StreetKa. I think this still retains a cheekiness that the car itself suggests too, so bob on by my money.
Then again, Audi had the RS4 as a shiny black spider that ate other cars, and that was a slice of fried gold.
I’ll be honest. When I first saw this I thought it was disappointing. But actually it’s bang on. OK, it’s never going to be as good as cake, but fuck it. What is? It’s too easy to be hypercritical when you work in advertising. What we need to remember is – coming up with great ideas is relatively easy. getting the ideas made is almost impossible. How many other car companies would have bought this idea?
First one had a good idea with good execution. This one is the total opposite. Yes what Fallon needs is a new ECD to prevent things like this from happening.
I miss Stella Artois. And Levi’s. And Honda. And VW before it got rubbisher.
This is a good ad. Very good. So hats off to everyone involved, it’s damn hard getting these out nowadays.
But… BUT… that song track is SHIT. Did the FUCKING BACC choose it? Is that the point the (obvious) suit on the account was trying to make??
