It really is a cracker

Here’s the new ad for Everything Everywhere, which I believe is the amalgamation of T-Mobile and Orange:

It’s an absolute beauty: impeccably written, performed and directed with a strong central idea and a fresh, solid tone of voice for the new company.
(Interest declared: I have spent many delightful days working at Saatchi and Saatchi London, and those spent with Rob and Andy, who made this ad, were among the most enjoyable.)
Hats off all round.
(PS: I’m in LA right now and it says the above link doesn’t work. If you find the same problem there’s another link here.)
I just love the fact that somebody had to explain to Kevin Bacon who Frank Carson was. “He use to say it’s a cracker huh? That’s cool!”
A great way of introducing EE, but I think pronouncing mobile the US way “mo-bill” could have been altered for the UK.
I concur. Beautifully written, and ‘old fashioned’ insofar as it’s entertaining…..I wondered when entertainment was going to come back into fashion.
I’m eating bacon. I’ve got the attention span of a gnat, can somebody tell me what happened after 30″?
Kevin Bacon talking about…Kevin Bacon. And how we are connected to him? What? Fast internet, okay I get it. But was that the most memorable way to tell me that? No. Fuck off Kevin Bacon. At most a 3/10.
Excellent advert, but also love the “Bacon Number” he refers to. Have you tried it on Google? Type Ian’s actor then bacon number and you’ll see the result. For example “bacon number angelina jolie”.

Meh.
Nicely written but got a bit boring after 30 secs. Preferred the old t-mobile work…
mr. bacon got badly burned by bernie madoff. hence his sudden appearance in lots of ads everywhere.
this was a good use of him. they clearly felt they had a lot shit they simply had to say. all you got left is who’s saying it and the director.
Kind of reminds me of Virgin mobile Doug Pitt. Without the twist.
Reminds me of Ted Rogers solving a clue on 3-2-1.
The clue was some coloured pens, they’re the colours of the rainbow.
A rainbow is an arc. Arc is an anagram of car, you’ve loss the bloody car.
I bet Ted Rogers would have nailed this ad. But Bacon did good too.
the walking talking wisecracking hollywood star has been overdone – starting with those samuel l jackson ones.
well made but zzz
Not great.
It’s very good.
But is it even the best ad to feature Kevin Bacon? Not sure.
Also reminds me a little of the Wes Anderson Amex ad for some reason. Though not as mindblowing.
It’s still top work, though. And a fantastic performance from someone who is clearly doesn’t just take the money.
This is good, but the other one is better. It’s on the Campaign website –

Nice to see a decent ad in the cinema, for a change. Thought KB was excellent. And looking young. Maybe not 6 degrees away from Botox.
I would take a month off if I was the genius that came up with the end line.
It’s the second best Kevin Bacon ad EVER!
After this:

both done by Ringan, he must love Bacon
I think Potts and Jex are running shit right now, is there a better team out there? i think not.
Should a CD team be making all the work?
Probably not.
I like Rob & Andy – but I don’t think they are ‘running shit right now’.
Toyota was good. Bacon ads good.
There’s better work coming out of other agencies.
Ben, I think you should do a post on how shit the PETA advert is by Fallon.

and thats why you work in Egypt…
“Its a cracker!” But in a Belfast accent please – not “Polly wants a cracker…”
