My God, the craft of this ad…

Particularly (obviously) the editing.
I don’t think I’ve seen editing that brilliant before.
That is damn, damn, damn fine editing.
But I feel sorry for the poor cunt who had to do it.
Wow! The sound design also deserves a trumpet.
Wow.
Shit on paper.
Brilliant on film.
JWT india’s ncd senthil’s directorial debut 🙂 he is one of the most talented and grounded creatives. but then best of talents are, no?
It gets a bit boring after a while. But then, after 46 seconds I had an epileptic fit and choked on a loose molar. I blame the cunty editor cunt.
This is good, does for cricket what they seem to have lost the ability to do for football.
Epic-leptic seizure.
What have yards got to do with cricket?
American football yes. Cricket?
This is real good. *maybe* a bit long, for me – but by fuckery I still wish i’d done it. Or even come close to doing it.
@Wazooomoo: Yards are pretty key in cricket, too.
Steve. I would disagree. Gaining yards in American football and rugby is important. Gaining runs and wickets, stopping fours and taking catches is key in cricket.
You don’t get runs by using yards. You don’t get wickets with yards. You don’t catch using yards. Fours aren’t yards. Catches aren’t yards.
My endline would have been
“Make every ball count.” Works for every player on the pitch. Batter, bowler and fielder. And keeper (me).
Lovely.
@Wazooomo Triller.
Totally agree.
Maybe it’s a translation thing.
Maybe The indian word for garden/yard/street and run/ball/wicket are the same but are shit in English.
I think Wazoooo’s line is better. And borrows less from that fucking Any Given Sunday bollocks.
विकेट रन गेंद सड़क यार्ड गली गेंद लेन
See
Gadgie. Could be.
Like far too many commercials these days, it outstays its welcome. It doesn’t get better by seeing more of it; it just gets boring.
My bet would be that the creative team did indeed come up with “Make every ball count” and the cunty client made them change it because he’s seen that “Any given Sunday” shit. I would also bet that the client isn’t Indian. He’s a septic.
Kind regards
Sherlock Holmeooomos
Isn’t the yard line linked to the execution though? Each shot a yard etc. So it makes sense in that way.
Anonymous. You might be right. However I play cricket and have done for 20 years and each shot is not a yard. Nor each delivery. Nor each catch.
As a cricketer the ad is great. As a bloke who’s been to Mumbai the ad is great. As a cricketer the endline makes no sense to me. Which is why I guessed the client was a septic.
The only yards in cricket are the 22 between the stumps (aka a “Chain”).
@wazooomo I totally agree. I was just searching for a link – albeit somewhat tenuous – to the line. A great ad either way.
