Canal+ Bear
Here’s the new ad from the people that brought you this absolute classic:
I like it a lot. Well observed, properly made, funny…
But it reminds me of that ad for Reader’s Digest from about fifteen years ago that was made by the wonderful Lee Goulding (and was it with Chips Hardy, father of film star Tom?). It showed a bin enjoying all your winnings – going on holiday etc. – because that’s where you put your ticket for the RD prize draw. I’m sure Lee and Chips would concede that the production values are a little higher here, and I have a feeling that 2011 French creatives may not have remembered and stolen a UK ad from the nineties, but what the hey… I’m just dumping out my thoughts on the internet like so many pointless turds.
It is very well done. I was wondering why the bear was so thin and BOOM!! all is revealed like a good old DDB ad.
Just yesterday, I mentioned the very same Reader’s Digest ad to a young team who had also unknowingly strayed into its territory. I didn’t know whether to fire them or send them to Lee on bended knee to beg forgiveness. They wept.
i saw it coming.
not inventive enough.
and it would make more sense if the bear was a film critic.
Send them to Lee. Every minute in his company is an education.
If the rug bear can walk and talk, why did it become a rug in the first place? Couldn’t it have just ripped the head off whoever was trying to lay it down in front of the TV?
And if its seen so many movies, then surely its first language (after its natural bear voice) would be American not French?
It really reminded me of Mr. W.
The weird looking charachter delivering a monologue in a french accent.
The inside of trailer scene is a canny touch. #subtle
very good. “i dont give a shiiiiiit” made me laugh out loud. prefer this over the classic, btw. better acting.
