It’s the touches.
I mean, the idea is lovely, but it’s the executional details (eg: the mom hiding behind the cleaner) that must have come after the initial idea that really make this wonderful.
That campaign is a tough act to follow, but they keep doing it.
You know where the hat is going?
That’s right: off.

I concur. Love the ‘Old Spice made a man of my son’ line and ‘Smellcome to manhood’ tagline. Chapeau.
I like that they’ve binned Mustapha, or whatever his name was, before he became abysmal.
Also, I know it’s the most boring question anyone can ever ask on an ad blog – but does anyone know if it has worked in terms of sales? Does anyone know anyone who wears Old Spice?
That question is normally written out of bitterness. But I’m genuinely interested, as my guess would be ‘no’ and I want to be wrong.
I quite like it. I think the use of song feels a bit done now and I’m sure I’ve seen the strategy of angry mums done before although not as nicely. It’s all about the touches though isn’t it.
Guess again, Anonymouse, certainly not true here in US.
Procter and Gamble try not to make a habit of throwing money away.
What you mean you’re not wearing it? Oh dear…
Product truth wrapped in silliness. Love it. Damn.
Best account in the world at the best agency in the world.
I’d love to see the reference they showed the client.
Up 107% apparently.
Good.
sheer brilliance. great execution. jealousy.
I’m still a Lynx Africa kinda man. Always will be. Makes me feel 13.
Anonymouse – Yes, the campaign has been effective at driving sales.
It won the Grand Effie:
